All training and trial locations will be contained in the online Training Book. Directions to the field trial grounds and/or caravans will be posted to the Retriever News Blog each day of the trial. Test Sites: Test sites will be posted at the headquarters hotel. We will be posting daily test details and location information on the blog also. Training Birds: Training birds will be available Monday morning, Nov. 4th at the Brian Watson property. Birds must be reserved two weeks prior to Monday, Nov. 4th, by calling Fred Rohrer at 785-741-4621. Training Grounds:The drawing for the next day’s training sites will be at 6 pm each evening at the Best Western in Giddings. The first drawing will be Sunday, Nov. 2nd at 6:00 pm and will be for training grounds for Monday, Nov. 3rd. The online Training Book will be available in October. Please support the businesses that have provided advertisements in the Training Book. Bitch Check: The bitch check will be conducted immediately following the General Meeting on Friday, Nov. 8th. Health Certification Requirement: According to the Board of Directors and the Field Trial Committee, there will be no formal check-ins for updated health certificates. However, should the need arise, please be able to provide evidence that all vaccinations are current for all our dogs in your possession at the event, including local pre-National training. Birds: Pheasants and ducks will be used during the national. Scratch Policy:Entry fees for the scratches will be refunded in full for a bitch in season prior to and during the running of the trial, appropriate veterinarian certificate for sick or injured dog or extenuating circumstances approved by the Field Trial Committee. Running Order:The electronic draw will take place at 10/29/2024 at 12:01 am Central Time and will be posted online available for viewing upon final approval by the National Retriever Club. Qualifiers from field trials held on Friday, Nov. 1st through Sunday, Nov. 3rd will be added to the draw. The draw will be further adjusted to accommodate for the late qualifiers. The first running dog will be determined at approximately 3:00 pm, during the General Meeting on Friday, Nov. 8th. Qualification Requirements: A 1st place carrying five Championship points plus two additional Championship points in Open, Limited, Special, or Restricted All-Age Stakes in AKC Member or Licensed Trials in the current qualification year (within the year preceding the National Championship Stake). Winners of the previous National Championship, current year's Canadian National, current year's National Amateur, and the current year's Canadian National Amateur Championship Stake are automatic qualifiers – but the last two named must be handled by an Amateur in the National.
