about the charles morgan memorial trophyIn 1937 the Country Life Trophy was introduced and awarded to the first Outstanding Derby dog of 1937. This trophy ran through 1968.
In 1968, the Directors of the Retriever Field Trial News announced that they would retire the Country Life Trophy, symbolic of the outstanding derby dog of the year, and replace it with the Charles Morgan Memorial Trophy. The new trophy would be awarded on the same basis and was to be considered a continuation of the same award. It would be administered by Retriever News. This new trophy honors the high-point Derby dog each year and was established through the contributions of Charles Morgan’s friends and family to perpetuate his memory.
