Ninth Series: A Water / Land Triple with an Honor

We are here bright and early at the remainder of the Ninth Series. The Test dog ran at 7:20 am. The running order will be #111, 3, 9, 23, 37, 96 and 45. It has ben announced that when we make the trip to the next site for the Tenth, that only the finalists go there first and then the spectators can follow. The test is running along...it is easier to see the guns this morning with the angle of the sun...but there is less wind, so harder to scent the birds. There has been one pick-up, #23. #37 is running and there are two to follow after that. We have had second no bird for # 96, so he will now run last. #45 was a pick up. #96 did a good job. The test is in the books at 9:11 am. Callbacks to the Tenth Series: #3, 9, 37, 46, 49, 58, 61, 71, 81, 89, 96, 99 and 111. Thirteen are back to the Tenth -- GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!

Tenth Series: A Water Quad with Three Flyers

This test is in a grassy farm field which the dog has to go across before reaching the water on any of the marks. The first bird down is the right retired rooster flyer shot to the left at 302 yds, falling on land. The second bird down is the left middle retired dead rooster thrown to the right over the channel at 213 yds.The dog must swim up the channel and retrieve the bird from the far shore. The third bird down is the left hen mallard flyer at 205 yds shot to the left. The fourth bird down is shot from an island and lands in the water. This right middle mark is a drake flyer shot to the right at 125 yds with a sluice in the water. The temperature is in the high seventies with the wind WSW at 1 mph. The first dog to the line was #96. He did the test with no handles. #99 just had a no bird...and so did #111.

The temperature has soared into the eighties and the wind has picked up a bit. There have been a few handles, mostly on the long right bird. It's taking about twenty minutes a dog. We have five more to run to find out who will take home the trophy. The test is in the books at 5:35 pm. Suzanne King thanked the landowners for the use of their land. Then she thanked the judges, Judy Powers, Judy Rasmuson and Judy Powers for their service these past weeks. Linda Erwin thanked the people who worked so hard to put on this event.
